Although this shooting is still being investigated, having been in law enforcement for 30+ years, I believe it will be hard to charge this person with anything because this type of shooting is defended by the general public. He shot the attacker after the attacker came after the 'Good Samaritan' and, he was neutralized by this person. A person who is on a 'sex offender' registry and is shot on the porch of the people he is alleged to have attacked, is not going to get any sympathy from the general public. Looks like a 'justifiable' shooting. The law enforcement officials just want to take their time with their statements about 'justifiable' and, practice keeping the smile off their face when they announce their findings. This was the point I was making in the school incident. We need to be able to protect all people no matter where we are or when something like this happens. I commend the hero that he took the steps in the past by getting a permit so that others can be helped legally and the bad guy lost. If we are able to become stronger in our efforts to get more laws passed to protect the heroes than maybe one day the bad guys will think twice before they harm or attempt to kill others when they realize there will be more of us legally carrying our weapon than there are of them.
